constantly restarting music until it eventually goes away) and the occasional freezing state, where any audio application makes the Windows interface frozen for 2 minutes. The system however is still prone to get a slight crackling eventually (in this case I have to restart all sound sources, i.e. The driver works wonderfully, but is there any solution to make it work when mixing multiple audio sources?Ĭurrently I'm using kX Wave SB0350 10k2 2/3 device selected as my audio device in Sounds and Audio Devices.ĭoing that (choosing any other than 0/1) would make the default windows mixer and volume icon in taskbar obsolete and inaccessible.Ĭurrently I'm using the 2/3 output because it generally works much better. So any recommendation or tips would be very appreciated!īefore ripping this turd to a thousand pieces and buying a new card. I also read that it's pretty dangerous and could short your motherboard. There is also the solution of using aluminium foil folded around a PCI card sized cardboard piece put under the card to shield it from electro magnetic waves that I didn't try. I'm unable to change ACPI on my secondary windows install, because it's giving me some errors. The only thing I didn't try so far was removing/changing ACPI.

But I'm almost sure there would be a software solution to this. The problem is almost clearly caused by my new Nexus PSU because thats exactly when it started. I'm also under the impression I already had this problem once a few years back then it drove me crazy and was thinking the card was dieing, but eventually after numerous driver reinstalls and changing things I could get rid of it and the card worked perfectly for another few years. Sometimes it would also freeze up the whole windows interface when playing another sound source (video, music) for as long as the buffer is filled up or a song reaches it's end or something (re-initiating sound sources). The crackling would simply be there as long as a video or something else plays at the same time, even if the second sound source is only at a volume of 1%, if it's 0% it would instantly go away. Since I'm depended on using multiple sources all the time, this is unacceptable. So the driver would be working flawlessly but only as long as there is a single sound source playing simultaneously. I'm pretty sure this was always the reason for the problem.

Thanks to kx project drivers I could finally pin point the problem to be caused by the mixing of various sources. playing a video while music is running, using music software) the constant crackling starts happening. Sometimes there was no crackling at all when doing nothing but starting when listening to music.įinally I'm at the kx Project drivers and the sound is very good and clean.īut there is one big problem using this driver: As soon as Windows is mixing sound from various sources (i.e. Sometimes it had a massive crackling sound while doing nothing that went away when listening to music. It always went away but eventually came back with a new drivers install. The cause are always differently, the result always the same: I tried the same procedures on a fresh secondary Windows installation I even deleted remaining sound registry entries in HKLM->Software->Microsoft->Windows NT->CurrentVersion->Drivers32 named 'wave1, wave2, wave3', 'mixer1, mixer2', etc that build up from previous installations. I always did a really truly clean install: Deleting all remaining files using Driver Sweeper, Nasty File Remover, Driver Cleaner, even booting to safe mode and deleting truly EVERY remaining file labeled 'creative' (File->Version), Folder and Software. Then I tried the NGO modded Creative drivers.

I tried pretty much everything: Fresh install of original Creative drivers, retail and new ones. I'm getting a constant crackling noise with my Audigy 2 ZS. I bought a new PSU and the problem started exactly after that. A few days I'm struggling with this problem.
